The issue of slot machine gambling is a subject of high importance that is not about to disappear any time soon. It's a third year in a row that the most of the legislature's time and attention will be called to address the subject of Slots in Maryland.
Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller who has vehemently tried to push forward the question about legalizing slot machines, announced his intentions to resubmit the slot bill this year with or without the support from Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. Ehrlich who ardently tried to enact slots for quite some time and his election, back in 2002 has resurrected the eight-year slot corps, said that he will either join the Miller's efforts or launch one of his own. According to Miller, this year might prove to have more momentum in the House, since the issue becomes blunter for the some of the members.
When the House was confronted with the slot question last week on the General Assembly 2005 session, Michael E. Busch, the house speaker has shown a pulsating vein on his neck and a groan of indignation suggesting that it is a mission impossible to get a different response from him. Still, Miller believes the opponents will be crushed not by the exerted pressure but by the mere facts.
