Kentucky is at the hub as the issue of money-raise for educational and Medicaid programs blinked once again at the horizon. The House lawmaker has come out with a proposal to legislate slot machines across the state. Two separate bills were drafted, by the Rep. Tom Burch, D-Louisville to allow the state utilize a share from the slot machine gambling proceeds in order to offset the budget deficits.
According to one proposition, a local referendum would be the means through which the residents could decide whether they want slots or not. The second one offers slot machine infusion at horse race tracks.
Burch estimated that Kentucky could eventually benefit from extra $400 to $800 million for government programs. But executive director of the Lexington-based Family Foundation, Kent Ostrander ratified that he would obstruct any initiations of gambling expenditure in Kentucky. He expressed his indignation saying that it is virtually immoral to rely on gambling as a source of funding 'good' programs.
