A non-gambler stands stanch for Florida slot machine gambling
Florida inhabits one man who makes sure that Florida will know about him and his non-stop gambling tune. His stance is that slot gambling as well as gambling of other casino games is a wonderful occupation. One of the more savory aspects of it, he syas is that no matter who you are or what you do, the winning odds are essentially the same for everybody.
Casino Stan could not have remained ‘persona non-grantee’ for most of politicians, policymakers and pundits. He is a very busy man, cajoling, writing and calling, frequently collecting signatures and aligning faulty arguments. His efforts are paid at times, but most of the time he leads a non-profitable life style.
This week was his partial day of vindication after 5 slot machine campaigns dating back to 1978. He was all day out, clothed in a baggy t-shirt and seedy jeans, flanked by self-made cardboard signs commemorated by “YES SLOTS” slogan. He, of course celebrated the Broward County approval of slots at four pari-mutuel facilities. Though the measure was rejected at Miami-Dade, Stan argued that once Miami-Dade citizens drive to Broward on weekends to spend away their capital at slots, they’d realize their misjudgment and due next poll change their opinions.
Interestingly enough, Casino Stan himself is an exemplary citizen who is not eager to waste his possessions on gambling. A divorced father of three, his now primary source of income is management of a swimming pool at a Hallandale Beach condo. He said he only once inserted a coin into a slot machine and has never been to Las Vegas.
