Argosy Casino in Riverside, Missouri, is reportedly the first of the state's 11 casinos to take part in a special campaign aimed at promoting positive messages about the state's casino industry. The messages will be displayed on the back of "ticket-in ticket-out" (TITO) stubs, the tickets that have largely supplanted metal coins in slot machines. The featured messages will include headlines, such as "$287 million to Missouri Schools in 2005" or "11,100 Great Jobs."
Bill Keena, head of the Missouri Gaming Association and vice president of Harrah’s Entertainment's local branch, explained that the TITO stubs made great "mini-billboards." Keena was also quoted as saying, "Our own customers are our most enthusiastic advocates, but even they may not be aware of the many ways that casinos benefit Missouri through jobs, casino-paid taxes and fees, and community projects."
Players addicted to slot-machines or suffering from other gambling problems will also find a toll-free 1-888-BETSOFF helpline on the back of the slots stubs.
