Mississippi's Casino Barge Boomtown Reopens with Coinless New Slot-Machines
It was recently reported that Boomtown, a casino barge located in the town of Biloxi, Mississipi, reopened for business. The gambling venue, which was substantially damaged by Hurricane Katrina last September, is the fifth local casino to reopen. All of the floating casino's 765 employees are expected to return to their jobs and the gaming barge's popular bakery and buffet are also slated to reopen.
The revamped casino boasts 1,000 slot-machines and 22 table gables. To start anew, the gaming venue decided to replace its old slots by brand new machines that will no longer require gamblers to slip coins into the slots. Boomtown also reportedly plans to open a pier-based extension with an extra 400 slot machines in September.
