Pennsylvania Senate Votes in Favor of Slots Suppliers Elimination
Pennsylvania state Senate recently voted in favor of making a significant change in the 2004 slot machine law, removing the requirement for slot machine distributors and suppliers. The effort to get rid of the middlemen companies was spearheaded by Senator Jane Orie, who called slot machine providers an unnecessary bureaucratic link between gaming facilities and slots manufacturers.

Senators who agreed with the middlemen requirement abolishment mentioned several reasons for their vote. Senator Rob Wonderling was reported as saying that slots suppliers would not add anything to the end product. In addition, Orie stated that requiring slots suppliers would only benefit interests with strong political ties who are likely to use their influence to gain wealth.

Nevertheless, the Senate's vote does not end the slots suppliers' elimination debate. In order to become a law, Orie's bill must also be approved by the House. Two months ago, the House alreadu voted in favor of eliminating suppliers, but changed its mind due to pressure from the would-be supplier company supporters. Orie said that she hoped that this time the House would support the Senate's vote.
