Slots Fans to Enjoy Direct Train Ride from NYC to Atlantic City?
It was recently reported that a consortium of Atlantic City casino operators is trying to convince the New Jersey Transit, New Jersey's public transportation corporation, to open a new direct train line from New York City to Atlantic City. The proposal is part of an effort to promote gambling in the city's casinos and to encourage New Yorkers to play slots and other casino games by offering them a "one seat ride" to Atlantic City.

According to NJ Transit spokeswoman Penny Bassett Hackett, the ride would take only two-and-a- half hours and the train would not stop in Philadelphia. Hackett was reported as saying that, with this new initiative, the Atlantic City's gaming industry is seeking to attract upper-class customers, who have money to spend. The Board of the NJ Transit is scheduled to meet this week to discuss the issue. With slots only two-and-a- half hours away, New Yorkers will no longer have any excuse not to ride the slots wave.
