Two separate Ohioan gambling interests recently launched petitions to gather signatures for a November vote on the proposed operation of 10 slots parlors in the state. Both groups must collect 320,000 valid signatures from registered voters in order to make it to the November ballot. The first group is Queen City Gaming Entertainment Inc. and the second one is the Ohio Learn and Earn Committee.
According to Queen City officials, the company is seeking the state's approval for the operation of slots in two venues in Cleveland, one in Cincinnati, and at seven horse tracks. For its part, the Ohio Learn and Earn Committee, has excluded the Cincinnati site from its proposition. It reportedly boasts some 200,000 signatures.
Both groups have until August 9th to submit their petitions to the state. Although the two competing slots proposals are similar, under Earn and Learn's plan, only four of the aforementioned gaming venues will have the possibility to offer table games in a later stage. Under the Queen City proposal, all 10 sites could be allowed to add table games and become traditional casinos.
