California Business Owner Arrested for Illegal Slot Machine Sale
Michael St. Peters, a 45-year-old business owner in Antioch, California, was recently arrested after local police officers discovered that the man has been selling illegal slot machines at his toy store. According to authorities, the officers found as many as 29 slot machines for sale at Peters' business. The police was tipped regarding the man's illegal activities.
Sgt. Don LaDue was reported as saying that Peters has been selling the gaming devices from about $500 for smaller slot machines to up to $1,200 for the arm-pull, three-wheel style machines. The police believed that the machines came from an out-of-state source.
According to the state law, it is illegal to possess slot machines without registering with the California Gaming Commission. It is also illegal to sell slot machines to anyone other than a registered broker. Peters' investigation is still ongoing, but police expected to present evidence to the District Attorney's Office in the near future for possible charges of illegal slot machine sales.
