Foxwoods Resort Casino Gives Connecticut $16 million in April Slot Machine Revenues
Officials at Connecticut's Foxwoods Resort Casino recently said that the state would receive over $16 million from the gaming facility's April slot machine revenues. The numbers were contained in a report delivered to the state Division of Special Revenue.
In April, the casino resort collected $67.5 in net slot revenues, approximately $2.8 less than the corresponding period in 2005. Bill Sherlock, Foxwoods president and chief executive officer, noted that he was not surprised by this drop because the casino had had up to 10% of its slot machines offline, due to a conversion of a slots area into a poker room.
Sherlock was also quoted as saying, "We plan to re-open our new slot area in May which will have more than 650 of the latest and most popular games on the market. Almost half of that mix will feature penny games because we've had a tremendous demand from our guests for them."
