Lucky Gambler Hits $8.2 Million Slots Jackpot at Mississippi's First Onshore Casino
Katherine Salvant, a resident of Metairie, Louisiana, has hit an astounding jackpot of $8.2 million while playing at a progressive slot machine at the Isle of Capri Casino Resort in Biloxi, Mississippi. Salvant said that she invested approximately $200 into a Wheel of Fortune quarter slot machine, before winning the jackpot.
Salvant, a retired track nurse for the jockeys at the New Orleans Fair Grounds, has been visiting South Mississippi casinos for many years. When asked about her future plans regarding the slots money, the fortunate mother of four children reportedly answered that she might purchase another car. No further plans have apparently been discussed with the press.
The Isle of Capri Casino Resort in Biloxi is Mississippi's first onshore gaming venue. The new casino offers over 900 slot machines with ticket-in/ticket-out technology, 27 table games, and a new poker room. The resort features over 500 Caribbean-Style rooms with a gulf view including 200 new Jacuzzi Suites, a Calypso's Buffet, Tradewinds Express, and a Taste of Farraddays'.
