Workshop Scheduled to Discuss Slots Installation in Broward County
Although Broward County gaming regulators have already started composing rules and regulations to govern the slot machines that are slated for installation in the area in the near future, local residents will be offered an opportunity to express their opinions regarding the issue only in March, at a workshop in Hollywood.
The Florida Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering recently conducted a two-day workshop in Tallahassee to discuss slots-related issues, including how to arrange security measures at the four future slots gaming venues and how to license employees. The division reportedly used material, consisting of over 300 pages of proposed rules, produced by Broward County officials.
The Legislature has given the division until June 1st to produce the rules and procedures under which slot machines would be operated at Pompano Park Harness Track, Gulfstream Park, Hollywood Greyhound Track, and Dania Jai-Alai. Division Director David Roberts was reported as saying that he expects to have a fully-developed proposal ready in time for the Hollywood workshop in March.
