It was recently reported that the Nevada Gaming Commission invalidated a prior decision made by its investigative arm, the state Gaming Control Board, and rejected the "Chinny Chin Chins" slot machine theme proposal submitted by Konami Gaming, a Las Vegas-based slots manufacturer.
Although Commissioner Sue Wagner was reported as saying that gaming regulators were managing an industry that constantly produces new and exotic themes for slot machines, such as "Chinny Chin Chins," other members of the Commission argued that the “three little pigs” idea clashed with a rule stating that products can not promote themselves using concepts that may attract underage individuals.
Nevertheless, Tony Cabot, an attorney representing Konami, claimed that, currently, there are no popular products based on this ancient tale, and that the most recent publicity that the story received was in Walt Disney's cartoon, in 1933. Cabot also said that, given its highly grim nature, namely, the wolf eating the little, innocent pigs, the cautionary tale is no longer meant for children only.
