Pennsylvanian Slots Regulator Accused of Potential Payroll Fraud
According to a report recently publicized by the Louisiana Office of State Inspector General, Anne L. Neeb, Pennsylvania's top slots gambling regulator, has allegedly been involved in payroll fraud. The report demonstrated that Neeb was paid for hours she did not work, while serving as executive director of the Louisiana gambling control board. The report also requested that Neeb compensate the state $2,700 for bilking the board.
On her side of things, the slots regulator vehemently denied the accusations. According to Neeb, the entire scandal is payback for her prior reporting of possible gambling corruption to federal law enforcement officials. However, Louisiana State Inspector General Sharon B. Robinson reported that Neeb missed work for 208.5 hours, and received payment for that time. Later, Neeb submitted leave adjustment documents covering only 152 hours of the missed time.
On October 18, Neeb responded to the report in writing. Among other explanations provided in her letter, Neeb argued that the audit did not correctly calculate the time she was entitled to under the Family Medical Leave Act, since no bookkeeper/employee in the payroll department knew how to calculate it properly. Despite Neeb's attempt to clarify the situation, Robinson said that she did not provide satisfying answers to questions posed by the Inspector General's office.
