Residents of Bangor, Maine to Get State's First Slots Casino
According to a recent report, the city of Bangor, Maine will finally have slots. The state's first and only slots casino is set to open in about 14 days. Hollywood Slots, operated by Penn National Inc., is temporarily located in a former restaurant and features 475 slot machines, giving potential patrons a taste of what is in store for them when a permanent parlor is opened.

However, not all are pleased with the current location of the slots casino. Although harness races will collect a predetermined portion of revenues generated by slots, industry officials maintain that this is not enough. Some of them reportedly argue that two years ago, when Mainers approved slots operation in the state, they voted in order to approve slots installation on the premises of a racetrack.

Nevertheless, it have been city officials who asked Penn National to consider options other than Bangor Raceway as the permanent location of the slots casino. The reason behind the move is officials' reported fear that the construction of a slots facility would disrupt events taking place in the proximity of the track.

Eric Schippers, spokesperson for Penn National Gaming, was reported as saying that at present, the company is in a search of the optimal location for the future, permanent slots parlor.
