Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Might Postpone Issuance of Slots Licenses
According to a recent report, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is about to face a problem that might postpone the issuance of slots licenses for racetracks across the state. Due to an internal dispute, board members can not reach an agreement on slots supplier regulations.
The Board can not finalize supplier procedures, simply because its members disagree whether or not to divide the state to regions. Some members believe that Pennsylvania must be split to five regions, with five slots suppliers in each region. However, others argue that the state must be divided in to two regions, a western and an eastern, or even that the state should be kept a whole entity, where slots suppliers can create business opportunities for themselves, independent of region.
Under Pennsylvania's slots law, passed in July 2004, at least three months must pass between the final approval of supplier licenses and the issuance of licenses for gaming facilities. Thus, the longer it takes for board members to agree on suppliers, the longer it will take state racetracks and casinos, applying for slots operation licenses, to actually obtain one.
