A Lucky Second-Time-Around Slots Winner Hits Jackpot
Elmer Sherwin, a frequent visitor to the Cannery Casino & Hotel in North Las Vegas, recently hit an outstanding slots jackpot of $21,147,947 while playing Megabucks(R), a slots game manufactured and operated by prominent slot machine maker IGT.
Sherwin, 92, is a second-time Megabucks winner. Playing the same slot machine at the Mirage in 1989, the lucky winner surprisingly swept the astonishing top jackpot of $4.6 million. It was probably his persistence at the same slot machine that gained him his second win.
When asked what he intends to do with his newly acquired money, Sherwin answered that he plans to donate part of it to the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and share the remaining part with his family. He also let on about his slots plans. "I'm gonna try for a third win on Megabucks(R)," he said, "but I may try the Wheel of Fortune(R) slot, too."
