Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to Accept Applications for Slots Licenses
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has decided to allow the state's six horse tracks to commence application for “conditional” slots operation licenses, starting next week. Tad Decker, chairman of the Board was reported as saying that he hopes the slots licenses would be issued already in February.
However, a certain internal dispute may slow the process.
Members of the Board can not reach an agreement regarding the regulation of providers, companies that are expected to serve as intermediaries between slots gaming facilities and manufacturers. Two proposals suggest spreading them over two or five-state regions, while the third proposal opposes any regional diversity at all.
Decker also said that he has no idea how many gaming operators would apply for the 14 permanent licenses now being offered. However, the six state tracks and a seventh harness track are expected to be awarded slots licenses, almost certainly.
