Police Chapter in Clarksburg, West Virginia Goes for Slots to Raise Money for Charity
It was recently reported that a Fraternal Order of Police chapter based in Clarksburg, West Virginia, intends to open a family-style steakhouse and operate slot machines on its premises. Being a fraternal organization, FOP is authorized to install and run as many as 10 slot video machines.
FOP President Carl Springer was reported as saying that the organization will operate the slots strictly according to gaming laws established by state legislation. Thus far,the group, a nonprofit organization aiming to raise money for charity, has been relying on funds collected from bingo games and telemarketing campaigns.
According to law, the new slots must be located in a separate room and under limited access. If the restaurant is successful, the FOP is expected to collect at least $1,000 in monthly earnings from slots.
