Two New Slots Casinos to be Constructed in Philadelphia
Although most Philadelphia residents reportedly believe that two new slots casinos will not greatly affect their lives, according to a recent report by the Philadelphia Gaming Advisory Task Force, two state-sanctioned slots facilities are expected to cause considerable changes in the lives of nearby residents.
The report estimates that the planned slots casinos would attract as many as 3 million visitors annually, and create up to 12,000 job vacancies. The casinos are also expected to give a boost to the city's economy by generating $668 million to $747 million in revenues in their first full year of operation.
The main question is, where the slots casinos would be located. Heavy speculations suggest that the most probable locations are the waterfront, Center City/Market East, and I-76/Route 1. The location of the city's two new slots casinos will ultimately depend upon their social and economic impacts.
