Kentucky State Representative Tom Burch recently revealed plans to pre-file a proposal that would, if passed into law, legalize 21,000 slot machine terminals across the state. While pushing for his proposal, Burch was reported as saying that the decision whether or not to allow slots within various jurisdictions will be left to local governments.
As provided in Burch’s proposal, each of the state’s 120 counties would be initially entitled to operate 50 slots terminals. The remaining 5,000 slot machines would be split between all the counties based on their population.
According to Burch, slots revenues would be allocated to fund social services, such as Medicaid and different educational projects. All gaming activities and generated slots money would be supervised by the Kentucky Lottery Corp. Burch reportedly expects the proposed slots to produce around $200 million in revenues, for starters.
