Dispute over Slots Casino in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania Continues
A survey recently conducted by Susquehanna Polling and Research, an independent survey group, showed that the vast majority of Adams County residents oppose the proposal to construct a slots casino in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
According to Susan Star Paddock, chairwoman of No Casino Gettysburg, an organization that fights against the construction of various gaming facilities, people dislike the idea of a nearby slot machine casino, as it is expected to cause social ills, such as crime and drugs.
However, John Brabender of Chance Enterprises, an investor group backing the proposal, was reported as saying that a slots casino would prove a blessing for the local area, employment-wise and economically. Brabender also said that slots facilities are usually visited by older populations. Therefore, there is no room for concern regarding crime.
In any case, the future of a slots casino in Gettysburg is yet not clear.
