Florida Governor Jeb Bush was recently reported as saying that his negotiations with Seminole tribal leaders were paused, due to the fact that state legislative leaders have not yet produced slots regulations.
Florida law makers can not reach a decision regarding what kind of slot machines to legalize – video lottery-type terminals, backed by the House, or lucrative Las Vegas-style machines, supported by the Senate. The two chambers are also debating on the future tax rate to be cast for slots casinos.
According to Governor Bush, at the present time, he can not continue his negotiations with Indian tribes. The federal law orders states to provide Indian tribes with a better offering than other operators.
No further developments can take place until legislative authorities resolve the Broward slots issue.
