U.S. District Judge Dismisses Pennsylvania Slots Lawsuit
According to a recent report, C.J. Betters, a Beaver County real estate developer, filed a lawsuit against Pennsylvania legislative authorities claiming that the existing gaming law prevents him from securing the slots gambling license necessary for his future racino project.

Betters reportedly revealed plans to construct a racino as part of a future housing and slots gaming entertainment resort in the Hays neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Up in arms over the gaming law, Betters, represented by his lawyer, Thomas W. King III, filed a suit in the U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh.

However, the case was dropped by U.S. District Judge Gary Lancaster. The judge, backing the constitutionality of the law, ruled that the state and its head officials can not be held responsible for the slots legislation they passed. The defendants, among them Gov. Ed Rendell, Senate President Robert Jubelirer, and Speaker of the House John Perzel, were all dismissed on the grounds that they enjoy legislative immunity.
