Although opened merely a few months ago, the Teller House Casino, located in Central City, Colorado, recently pulled the plug on its 200 slot machines. According to a spokesperson for the state gaming division, the slots casino, operated by 3C Gaming Inc., is bankrupt.
President of Central City's Business Improvement District, Joe Behm, was reported as saying that the closure of the slots facility is quite puzzling, as Central City’s gaming revenues are flourishing. Central City Mayor Buddy Schmalz backed Behm’s statement.
Some gaming officials, such as Lois Rice, executive director of the Colorado Gaming Association, reportedly believe that it was the casino’s location that contributed to the its failure to stay in business. The Teller House Casino is located somewhat further from parking lots than the Main Street casinos.
