Future Slots Casino in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Brings Urban Planning Dilemma
As Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania gets ready for its upcoming slots casino, the city is grappling with the prospect of fitting such a huge complex in its downtown area. The future slots venue is expected to host 3,000 slot machines, and will have the potential to house another 2,000 machines.
Pittsburgh Mayor Tom Murphy appointed a group of volunteers, the city Gaming Task Force, to study the impact of such a slots facility on the city and its residents. The grand casino will likely alter the city’s landscape forever.
According to Roland Porter, task force co-chair, the decision on the actual location of the slots casino is complicated, as many issues must be taken into consideration. Among such issues are the size of the future venue, traffic generated by its visitors, access to its premises and others. Porter also reportedly said that the huge structure will pose an imposition regardless, but it is important to prevent it from becoming a tremendous eyesore.
