Israeli National Lottery Corporation Fights against Illegal Slots
As a part of its struggle against the thousands of illegal slot machines presently operated by the black market across Israel, the National Lottery Corporation has requested a permit to expand the amount of slots it is authorized to run.
Although the finance ministry, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, recently authorized the installation of 500 new machines at 150 new locations across the country, according to Corporation head, Shimon Katzenelson, this effort is not significant enough to defeat Israel’s illegal slots market.
Also, Katzenelson reportedly said that if the Corporation’s request for slot machines would be approved, approximately $76 million in revenue is expected to be allocated to different educational projects for Israeli children. This would make gambling in Israel a safer venture, as slots that are under the Corporations’s control are rigorously supervised and minors have no access to them.
