Nevada Governor, Kenny G. Guinn, recently authorized a law, allowing slots gambling fans to play slot machines on hand-held wireless devices. The permit is valid only in public places and only on the premises of the various casino venues.
In 2001, Nevada Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa declared that without a clear and definite new legislative policy on online gambling, state casinos might get prosecuted for operating internet gaming. However, the recently approved devices, developed by Cantor Fitzgerald LP, are legal, as they are not connected to the Web.
Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, Dennis Nylander, was reported as saying that the Board's legislators will need time to produce regulations regarding the slots devices, so as to make sure that minors would not have access to them.
According to William Bible, president of the Nevada Resort Association, the new wireless machines are a testament to the rapid development of the constantly growing gambling market.
