GOP Proposes Potential Changes to Pennsylvania Slots Law
Although Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell already rejected last year's GOP proposal to forbid public officials from holding interests in slots gambling entertainment companies, the Republicans are planning to try their luck once again with a similar effort.
GOP law makers may also propose new potential modifications to the state slots bill, which authorizes the operation of slot machines at 14 gaming facilities across Pennsylvania. Changes crafted by the GOP would allow the state attorney general to prosecute gaming felonies, open the door to out-of-state slots suppliers and distributors, and oblige slots casinos to obey local zoning rules.
The Republicans reportedly claim that it is not their goal to abolish slots gaming, as they recognize that the gaming industry has its own advantages. They only want to make sure that it is regulated properly.
