Pennsylvania Schools Reject Slots Revenues for Tax Relief
It was recently reported that the Governor of Pennsylvania, Ed Rendell, said that Pennsylvania school boards should not have been given the authority to decide whether or not slots revenues will benefit homeowners.
Approximately 100 of Pennsylvania's 501 school districts decided to take part in Act 72, designed to offer property tax relief using slots revenues. Act 72 would also permit the participating voters to decide whether or not to partake of slots-funded tax relief.
Rendell reportedly said that although he is willing to examine suggestions to modify Act 72, it is not urgent, as gaming revenues will probably be only available for taxation in 2007.
