The president of the Illinois State Senate, Emil Jones Jr., recently revealed that a suggestion to install about 1,100 slot machines in several gambling facilities, such as the Arlington Heights racetrack, might be formally approved quite soon.
Jones, a Democrat from Chicago, was reported as saying that due to the fact that the state is in urgent need of funds, lawmakers and the governor are on the verge of a mutual agreement to approve slots operations in different casinos and race tracks.
Jones suggested allotting slots operation licenses and according to his calculations, the state would thereby obtain a profit of approximately $580 million. However, until the present time, the suggestion has not been actualized.
In addition, since there is no consensus regarding slot machine operation, and since no one can predict Chicago Mayor Richard Daley’s stand on the matter, slots installation in the Arlington Heights racetrack is still uncertain.
