Lawsuits Likely Following Slots Decision for Broward County
When the Florida legislature failed to pass a resolution, which would have provided for slots in Broward County, speculations began to circulate as to what went wrong. One possible explanation for why the legislative session ended without passing the slots measure is that it was a result of opposition on the part of Florida Governor, Jeb Bush.

Governor Jeb Bush openly challenged the slots proposal and according to Sen. Steve Geller, it was his opposition that influenced the final decision of the House to abstain from passing the resolution. Such a development of events may end up in court, as the executives of the gambling industry in Florida are likely to file a lawsuit, after investing millions in support of the slots resolution. President of Gulfstream Park, Scott Savin, was reported as saying that his company is building a new modern racetrack, which will be launched regardless of the legislative decisions surrounding slot machines.
