Broward Slots admirers are the Tallahassee bad boys
Florida has chosen a new chairman, who sides the slot machine banning in the state. Bledsoe is the name of a new messiah who places booze on par with slots gambling, and both are family destroyers in his opinion. Floridians seem to agree with him in spite of the seeming extremity he has adopted in his political endeavors. It doesn’t seem to bother those who find themselves thirsty for hooch to have to hit the road and drive for about 40 minutes to Pensacola.
Broward is the only weirdo when it comes to stance on slot machine issue. Central Florida Rep. Randy Johnson, the anti-slot leader said his neighbors perceive slots gambling with much dimmer enthusiasm than their Broward brothers. Even Miami-Dade voters polled against slots. The majority of Floridians think that Broward is too unleashed in its liberalism and creates a place where gamblers would be easily enticed to waste their children’s lunch money on slot machines.
Tallahassee, as it now appears does not intend to provide special treatment for any gambling side effects Broward might suffer from. The Legislature does everything in terms of setting regulation for the new slots; the number of slot machines, the hours of operation and the share each county will receive from the machine taxes. The consequence of the new slot machine groove in Broward may destroy the reputation of the county in the eyes of Tallahassee.
