Slot machine violators are warned through the newsletter
Nebraska Attorney, General Jon Bruning was alerted with the warning newsletter sent to approximately 100 keno operators and about 70 city and county clerks bewaring of approaching swooping on illegal slot machines. The author of the warning letter has conditioned his revealing the location of the illegal slots in returns for the state enforcing the anti-slot gambling laws.
The author of the letter was Paul Schumacher, the head of Lotto Nebraska who wanted to take upon himself to eliminate slot machines across the state. In the interview Schumacher maintained that his letter was meant to have a deterrent effect on potential slots law breakers. Bruning expressed his belief that once officials would be ready to tackle slot machine criminals, Schumacher will be cooperative in revealing their exact location.
Authorities said that some bars and fraternal clubs in Nebraska which installed illegal video and slot machines have quite successfully survived the occasional raids enforced by the state inspectors. Burning said that he and his office are bonding with Nebraska State Patrol to enact the state’s gambling laws.
In the last year election, Schumacher supported casino gambling proposals, but has always argued against illegal slot machines, which leak the proceeds from keno games, the core of his business. He later promised to fully cooperate with any investigation on this matter.
